About MakeItHuman
MakeItHuman does one thing: it rewrites AI-generated text so it reads the way people actually write. No detector bundles, no content factories, no feature sprawl — one tool, done carefully.
Why we built it
AI writing assistance is now normal — students draft with it, marketers scale with it, professionals polish with it. But AI detectors are flawed gatekeepers: they carry real false-positive rates, and research has shown they disproportionately flag writing by non-native English speakers. People need a way to make AI-assisted work read like their own voice, and they deserve a tool that's honest about what it can and can't do.
How we're different: we measure
Most tools in this category publish impressive-sounding detection numbers with no methodology. We benchmark every change to our rewriting engine against Binoculars, a peer-reviewed open-source AI detector, using a corpus of real AI text and genuine pre-AI human writing — and we score meaning preservation, not just detection, because a rewrite that changes what you said is a failure even if it scores well. When our numbers improve, it's because the engine improved, and we can prove it.
Where we stand on ethics
MakeItHuman is a writing tool, like a very good editor. It's for making AI-assisted drafts sound like you — not for misrepresenting your work where you have a duty of disclosure. If your school or employer has rules about AI use, those rules are yours to follow, and our terms say so explicitly.
