Our humanness meter analyzes your text across multiple dimensions that AI detectors check: sentence length variation, vocabulary diversity, structural patterns, transition phrases, and more. After humanization, most texts score 90+.

This policy describes what data MakeItHuman ("we", "us") collects when you use makeithuman.io, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we don't store the text you humanize on our servers, and we collect only what we need to run the service.

Your text

Text you submit is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI, depending on configuration) to perform the rewrite, then returned to you. We do not save your original or humanized text in our database.
Your humanization history is stored in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
Our AI providers process text under their API terms, which do not permit them to train on API data by default.

Account data

If you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address and basic profile information.
If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we store your subscription status and plan.
We record how many words you humanize per billing period to enforce plan limits. This is a number, not your text.

Analytics & cookies

We use PostHog for aggregate product analytics (page views, feature usage) in cookieless mode: no analytics cookies and nothing stored on your device, which is why you don't see a cookie banner here.
Our authentication and payment providers set strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and process checkout — these are required for the service to function.
We use rate-limiting infrastructure (Upstash) that temporarily processes IP addresses to prevent abuse.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal data.
We don't use your text to train AI models.
We don't share your data with third parties beyond the processors listed above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@makeithuman.io and we'll respond within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, subscription records, and usage records.

Data retention & security

Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and as required for tax and accounting purposes afterwards. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our infrastructure providers.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes affecting account holders, notify you by email.
